How Do You Treat Pain And Burning Sensation In The Metacarpophalangeal Joint Of The Thumb After A Wrist Injury?

Hello! I have injured my wrist and im not sure what I need to do about it. It hurts even without pressure or weight bearing, when making a fist or doing any twisting motion. It is difficult to flex my thumb and often when done it pops in and out of place. The pain is from the thumb to the wrist on the ulnar side. There is also a burning sensation in the metacarpalphalangeal joint of the thumb.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As the first line of management, you can apply ice packs and take analgesics like Tramadol or Diclofenac for pain relief. If symptoms persist, better to consult an orthopaedician and get an MRI scan done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
