How Does Plavix Compare To Eliquis To Keep Blood Clots From Forming?

How does Plavix compare to Eliquis to keep blood clots from forming and strokes occurring in heart patients with A-Fib? Is it as good as Eliquis? My husband has had a triple bypass 7 years ago and has recently been diagnosed with A-Fib. Eliquis is very very expensive and we need to find a dependable substitute. i.e. one that will not allow a stroke, please.

Hi,

Plavix and Eliquis are both medications used to prevent blood clots from forming and reduce the risk of stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation (A-Fib). Both are effective in reducing the risk of stroke in A-Fib patients. However, studies have shown that Eliquis may be more effective in reducing the risk of stroke and significant bleeding than Plavix.

However, it is essential to note that the choice of anticoagulant medication depends on individual patient factors, such as medical history and other drugs. It is best to consult with your doctor to determine the best treatment option for you or your husband's specific needs.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
