How Early Can One Test For Pregnancy After Periods Getting Delayed?
Hi I had unprotected sex about five to six times this month, although I haven t been in birth control for almost two to three months i wanted to know what are my possibility of being pregnant. I did do a pregnancy text the 18th but it came out negative but I m late around four days from when i needed to have my period. Should i wait more to test one more time?
Hello! I had gone through your query and understand your concern.
Pregnancy tests are designed to tell if your urine or blood contains a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). This hormone is produced right after a fertilized egg attaches to the wall of a woman's uterus. This usually happens, but not always, about six days after fertilization. If you're pregnant, levels of hCG continue to rise rapidly, doubling every two to three days.
Most over the counter pregnancy tests can be used as soon as you miss a period. Most home pregnancy tests will give accurate results if you test at the time your period would normally be due, about two weeks after you ovulate. If you have a negative result, but still don’t get your period, test again three days later. If you are pregnant, the levels of hormone may build up enough by then to be picked up by the test.
Hope it helped. Dr.Rovena
