Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have tried nearly all blood pressure medications.I get blood pressure at night and during the day it is normal..been on ramipril.give,s me stomach ache.Just tried norsvac, feeling tight in the chest. What else an I ask my doc to try.tried nifidinidipine
Ramipril is an angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor group of drugs also called ACE inhibitors, which has so many beneficial effects other than controlling blood pressure. it is frequently used in patients with diabetes.
These drugs are not potent antihypertensive drugs, their blood pressure loweing capacity is very low when compared to calcium channel blockers like amlodepine or nefidipine. Even when compared to other group of drugs.
But certainly these are good antihypertensives. but the common side effects encountered with these drugs are dry cough.
Since you are not tolerating these drugs, I recommend you to switch over for calcium channel blockers like amlodepine or betablockers like metaprolol or nebivolol. please consult your physician regarding this.
Thanks
