How Effective/safe To Use Althea Pills To Prevent Pregnancy?

Hi . I am 30 and planning to take on althea pills to prevent pregnancy.. I am currently working at home and so worried since I am overweight.I am 5 6 in height and more than 80 kls. I have gone operation last 2010 to remove my cyst in the ovary.My main concern is ..this will be the first time that I will be taking contraceptive pills and I am worried that I will gain weight since I am really trying hard to lose some of those fats ..Please help thank you...

Hello ma'am and welcome.

Birth control pills can lead to slight weight gain, and although all pills list this to be a side effect some do not really result in weight gain. I would say it is all upto your diet and which one suits you best. Speak to your doctor about this and also include a healthy diet and exercise into your dauly regimen.

If you still have ovarian cysts, speak to your doctor about the benefits of metformin.
