How Harmful Hookah Smoking Is For A Slender Person With Low BP?
Age:18 height: 5'6 weight:102lbs no medical history. I have been to a hookah bar twice this week and was wondering how bad hookah really is for you. I have low blood pressure and am a slender person, is it worse for me to smoke because of my low blood pressure and slender size?
Basically hookah is cigarettes. There isn't that much difference unless you put something other than regular tobacco into it. It's a stretch to say low blood pressure interacts. but if you have to really inhale with a LOT of pressure, it can trigger a reflex lowering of pulse and blood pressure (VASO-VAGAL REACTION) that could make you faint. I have had a patient who popped a lung with straining. but this was the most thoracic straining he did in his whole (70 yr) life--far more than just inhaling. No, not so much of a risk. The main risk is getting hooked (hookah'd?) on tobacco and smoking a lot more than 2x a week!
