Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been told I have carrpeal tunnel, tendinitons and kienbock in my right hand, my main hand i use. would surgery be the best answer. I have stage 3 kien bock. I cant bend my hand forward, and it hurts in everyday use ie... doing hair, cleaning my self using the computer and numerous things.
Surgery is good if it is disabling the movement due to pain. Using hot water fermentation and MFR along with therapeutic ultrasound therapy and TENS therapy should help reduce the spasm of the flexor retinaculum of the carpal tunnel. Since you are a computer desk worker it needs to be modified and simple stretching and strengthening exercises for the hand and forearm should be done.
Keinbock is avascular necrosis and we need the CT/MRI for the same to see the status. If necrosed then surgery will be of good choice to look for and if not then with conservative management you should do well.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
