Today I went to the clinic because I think I might have endometriosis. The doctor prescribed me lutera to try it out for a few months. The instructions say to take on the first day of period or the first Sunday after starting period. I started my period last Friday and it is now Tuesday. Do I wait for the next Sunday or do I just start the first pill today? Help please I ve never been on birth control

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
HI, understand your question. Lutera is a combined hormone contraceptive. & acts by reducing endometrial development ,there by reducing menstrual pain. You should have started in as prescribed. Now don't wait for next sunday. start it the earliest, so that the desired effect will be achieved. * only thing to remember is you may not have contraceptive effect this month,so you have to use additional contraceptive this month. Thanks.
