The rhythmical throbbing of arteries produced by the regular contractions of the heart, especially as palpated at the wrist or in the neck is know as Pulse. Relation to Heart Beat. When the left ventricle contracts it send a rhythmic flow of blood in the arteries. Normal range in adults may be taken between 60 to 80 beats per minutes. In disease of heart e.g conduction defect it can rise >100 bpm called arrhythmias, or bradycardia if AV node has pathology, here the pulse will be between 59 to 60 bpm, others are pulsus paradoxus. Hope this answers your question.
