How Long I Should Wait To Have Sex After Cyst Microdisectomy ?
I just had a cyst microdisectomy performed by L-4 L-5. Turned out the cyst was actually a bag filled with liquid so it was just popped and some bone was shaven down. My question is how long after surgery ahould I wait to have sex. Is there some positions that are best? I know I cant twist or bend.
If the procedure was uneventful and recovery from the operation has been without problems, then with most surgeries >90% of healing has occurred by 6-8 weeks. You may need physiotherapy to further mobilize and strengthen the muscle.
As long as your partner and you are aware of the limited mobility, routine sex should not be an issue. You should be mindful of your own physical limits and not push yourself beyond your threshold of pain or discomfort. The dictum would be - 'listen to your body'.
Please also discuss the issue with the surgeon who did the operation. He or she would be best placed to advice if any adjustments or delay in return to sexual activity is needed because of the operative findings.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
