Hi, I m asking why although you say that HIV does not survive much in the air it is transmited sharing an infected needle since it has contact with the air before the sharing.I had an accident touched an object in the public bus which was dirty by something maybe blood by which much people travel every day and much of them if you take a look have open cuts. Also I had not bleeding but small cut in my hand. Also using a public toilet much times and touching object with hands having small cuts such as shaking touching hands with people with not bleeding but visible open cuts on it.Somewhere I read that hepatitis C virus can survive up to 3 days in dry blood and so I m asking how much HIV can survive-also if as it looks the probability of catching hepatitis C is higher.I took Lactoferine as I read it can inhibit HIV-1 but I am still concerned at least of catcing hepatitis.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Based on your history I think you shouldn't worry because HIV, in contrary of hepatitis C, cannot live outside the body just a few seconds. So, there is no risk to get HIV after you have touched an object in the public bus which was dirty as well after shaking or touching hands and objects even if you have small cuts in your hand.
I hope my answer helps you.
Regards.
