I was bitten by my dog on my top lip and the bottom towards my chin. My concern is with the top lip. I just got my stitches out and the doctor said be careful for the next 4 days. The scar isn t really visible but I am afraid it might open or something how long until it s fully healed? Will I always have to be careful like with taking wide bites? Or any other concerns really?

Dentist, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr. Bhavesh Gupta's Response
Hi, we understand your problem. wounds on the lips heals almost completely by 2 weeks and usually surgeons remove the sutures by 6th or 7th day of surgery on the lip. Dont worry after a week of removal of sutures u wil be able to get back to your routine life . my advise will be to take care for a week and avoid eating hard food stuffs so as to prevent the wound from getting disturbed for a week.
