How Long Does C Diff Stay Positive After Treatment?

I was diagnosed with C Diff at the end of March. The doctor put me on Flagyl. After the course of that medication, I had the same symptoms beginning one week later. Then, I was put on Vancomycin for 10 days. Exactly one week later, the symptoms came back: diarrhea, low grade fever, cramping. I have since had two test for C Diff, both came back negative. Is it possible that the C diff is still there? Or am I dealing with something exactly the same... but different?

Hello,

You have been prescribed higher antibiotic for C. difficile. Your culture report also probably negative for it as per mentioned history. You can additionally take probiotic tablet like Sporolac. You can have viral gastroenteritis. Maintain hydration with lots of water. For fever antipyretic medication prescribed. If no improvement then ultrasonography investigation and stool culture can be done for further work up.
