How Long Does EpiPen Works On Severe Anaphylaxis Reaction To Wasps?
I have severe anaphylactic reaction to wasps. I have 2 EPIPENS and basically know how to use. My ? Is how long does the epipen work? Last time I lost consciousness after 10 minutes, urinated on self and woke up in ambulance. Not sure if this next time will be the same. I live in the boonies and wonder as soon as I get stung if ever should I or someone call 911? Or have . Plenty of time to drive or be driven to hospital 45 minutes away after epitome 0930on
Generally the EpiPen should work within 10 minutes to counteract a reaction. Even after using it, you should seek medical help. The dose may not be adequate for your particular response and additional therapy may be needed. Given how severe your last reaction was, it would be best to give yourself the shot and immediately call 911 if you are stung. A 45 minute drive to the hospital may be too long. If you call 911, the paramedics can get out there quickly and administer the treatment right away. Better not to take any chances. Hope this helps.
