How Long Does Tenex Take To Be Effective In A ADHD Child?
my son is 6 years old. He has been diagnosed with ADHD since he was 3. We have tried several different medications over the years. The the last year or so he has been on Intuniv. He was on intuitive er 4 mg and risperdal 0.25 every morning and had seem to be working just fine for him. We recently had a change in health care coverage and I couldn t afford the Intuniv that he was taking any longer. So we had switch it to TENEX 1mg half pill in the morning and half pill in the evening. So far I haven t noticed it working. He s only been taking it one day. Today he has seemed very hyper. How long does it take before the medicine goes into effect?
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your problem. Your son has been diagnosed with ADHD and was on Intuitive ER 4 mg and Risperidone 0.25 mg and was stable. Now due to change in health care coverage the medicines have been changed and now he has been given Tenex 1 mg per day. Tenex and Intuitive both consists of Guanfacine and the drug was able to control his symptoms in extended release 4 mg doses. As per my opinion insufficiency of doses has resulted in hyperactivity of his symptoms and he is facing the problems. You can consult his psychiatrist again and can ask to increase the doses of Tenex to unto 4 mg per day and his symptoms will reduce then.
Discuss with his psychiatrist before making any change in prescription.
Thanks, hope this helps you.
