How Long Does Ankle Bone Swelling Take To Heal?

I had a severe blow to shin and about 2 days later, black/blue/red bruising to ankle area of same leg from side to bottom and to other side to the ankle bone. There is some swelling particularly around the ankle bone. The bruising is now graduating colors and fading. This has now been over a week's time. Should I be concerned about being on the foot and how long should I expect the swelling to remain. Slight hurting in the ankle area from the pressure caused by the swelling.
