How Long Does It Take For HIV To Show In The Blood?

Hi I had sex with a girl that my brother had sex with. But the thing is my brother is HIV possitive which I was not aware of untill sept-2008 and I had sex with this girl after he did . I and unprotected sex with her. I have been for three HIV tests after that and all have been negative. I had sex with this girl in jan-2005 and i went for my first test in may-2006 then dec-2008 then may-2009. My question is how long does it take for HIV to show possitive in the blood test? I know my brother had unprotected sex with her too so howcome I keeping showing up as negative?

Hi
You might not have caught up with infection as all the tests turn out to be negative.
As you have asked generally the symptoms show up in 6 months and sometimes it takes even 10 years for the symptoms to show up.
So my advice is don't be afraid and take up a NAT(nucleic acid amplification test) which might be much more reliable test.
If the test turns out to be negative then you are HIV negative and live without fear.
All the best
