How Long Does It Take For A HIV Virus To Infect A Child?

Knowing that immune system in kids might not be too strong, how long it takes the hiv virus to be declared in a toddler if he is accidentally contaminated while living with hiv contaminated relatives. kids born from negative parents has been living with relatives that are positive and they used to pre-chew food to him. Sometimes I feel some small swollen lymph node in his neck and groin. A worried mom, thanks for your answer.

It take upto 6-8 weeks to become positive only if they are infected with blood of hiv patient

1. I read your query and i am happy to help you. You already mentioned that child is living with the relatives having hiv positive status and giving pre-chewing food to the child
2. It take upto 6-8 weeks to become hiv positive status only if the child infected with blood of hiv patient like cut injuries on the lips and in the mouth or any open sores
3. Mostly hiv will not transfer by saliva except the saliva contaminated with blood
4. Kindly do ELISA test and confirm the result of the test by WESTERN BLOT test at the end of 6 weeks of possible exposure to hiv
