Hello,

Hemorrhoids, also known as piles, are swollen veins in the lower rectum and anus. It takes time to heal. You are advised to make lifestyle changes to get rid of it. Presently, since you are having loose diarrhea, you are advised to take anti-diarrheals and keep yourself well hydrated.

Take adequate amount of water and fluids. Dehydration, sedentary lifestyle, wrong food intake, fiber less diet triggers symptoms of hemorrhoids and causes discomfort, itching, and bleeding, especially during bowel movements. Avoid intake of hot, spicy oily food. Prefer to take home made plain boiled food over fried food.

Avoid taking food that takes long to digest. Take lean meat. Red meat triggers constipation. Avoid taking any food that causes constipation. For relief, take sitz bath 2-3 times daily, cold compression is helpful. Do not strain yourself during bowel movement. Do regular walking in the morning & evening to avoid constipation.

You can apply cream containing lidocaine to help relieve pain. Anusol ointments, or suppositories containing hydrocortisone will help it get healed faster & prevent discomfort due to itching. It will help to relieve pain and itching. Hemorrhoids take time to heal as it is in sensitive area. You can take pain relieving medicines orally to get rid of pain. Diet control and maintaining good hygiene will help to heal faster. Do not go for anal sex as it will make symptoms worse.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
