How Long Does It Take To Cure Minimal Ptb?

helo, Im Merlinda 23 years old,height 5'3, weight 50kilos.Last January 19 I consulted to a doctor and I found out that I have minimal PTB in my upper lobe.right away I undergo medication. After six months of medication I was shock to know that I'm not cured. Im worried now...pls help!

Hello, Thanks for using Healthcaremagic. i had gone through the data at you have posted, sorry that you had to undergo all this..
some things need further clarification like

how was your diagnosis of PTB made?was it by sputum or CTchest
if it was by sputum, after 2 months of therapy was sputum AFB repeated?

Normally we diagnose TB with sputum smear examination for AFB, then started on intensive phase which contains four drugs.
this phase is for 2 months after which we recheck sputum AFB. if AFB is positive we need to continue 4 drugs for another month and repeat Sputum AFB. if still positive we need to go for drug sensitivity testing to rule out MDR TB.

if Sputum AFB is negative after 2 or 3 months then drugs changed to 2 or 3 drug regimen.

if there is good compliance with medications and you had drug sensitive TB it is unlikely that you are not cured.
