I am taking antibiotics for UTI, which I have had since this past Friday night. Since then it has kept me up pretty much all night given the frequency which I need to urinate. I am exhausted given the poor night sleep I have now had for 5 nights. My question is how much longer until the medicines will cure my UTI. I only had this once before, and by the end of the second day I was feeling much better. This time, not so.
It depends upon how severely you are infected with UTI. If it is not a chronic infection, it can be controlled within 48 hours but will get better in about a weeks but if it is chronic you may have to continue medicines for 3-4 weeks.
If you quit antibiotics by yourself it may relapse. Stay well hydrated, avoid alcohol, smoking & addictions if any to prevent efficacy reduction of the medicine.
Take care of your hygiene, always go for protected sex & avoid public washrooms.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
