How Long Does It Take To Start To Feel Better After Stopping Medicine For Depression?

I have been on cymbalta for 10 years and decided to stop taking it. Ater 20 days my symptom of depression came back. How long does it take to start to feel better after stopping your meds. Is it more difficult to get better when someone goes off their meds?

Hi,
I read your problem and can understand that after so long on medications, you want to be off medications. Generally, anti-depressant medications are continued for a few months after your symptoms improve. But in case of repeated episodes of depression, it may be required to continue it for much longer depending on number of episodes and duration. You haven't mentioned what dose you were on. Quite often , if you stop medications all of a sudden rather than tapering it, symptoms come back. As of now, since you are having symptoms, I would recommend that you visit your psychiatrist as soon as possible and restart your anti-depressants.
Hope I was able to solve your query. Best wishes.
