How Long Does The Metallic Taste In The Mouth Last While On A Lidocaine Patch And Aspercreme?

I have been using 4% Lidocaine patch and twice daily Aspercream topical ointment on my sciatic pain for 6 mos. now have very strong metallic taste, hearing difficulty, and occasional flashes of light on periphery of eyes. Have stopped everything except for patch which is needed for pain. How long will the metallic taste last? I ve lost 3 # because all food tastes terrible. What to use for pain?

Hello,

If this is the pain due to sciatica so the best option is surgery because analgesic will give you temporary relief. Potent narcotic can be tried till you decide for surgery, for the pain final diagnosis is must else differential diagnosis need to be taken into consideration. Because it might not be a sciatica but could be fibromyalgia.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
