Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been on 1/2 tablet of Phentermine for 5 days; I have mild regurgitation and I am 52 years old. I have tried several healthy diets, and am having an extremely difficult time losing weight (5 6 and 180 lbs.). What is a safe period of time for taking Phentermine, and is 1/2 tablet associated with all of the problems I have seen with the full dose?
Phentermine can be taken for a few weeks, but the efficiency decreases after first week; so i would generally ask my patient to take it for around 2 weeks or for a maximum of 3 weeks. Half a tablet might have milder or no side effects but at times can be same as that of full dose. Apart from phentermine, I would advice my patient regular exercise, diet and behavioural counselling for long term weight loss.
