How Long Should Acitrom, Digoxin And Ivanode Be Taken After Stroke?
My mother had mitral valve replacement surgery on 26.06.2014. After the surgery she had stroke on right side part of the body. Now she is taking acitrom 3mg and 2 mg along with strocit 500 mg & cloplet, DIGIOXIN and Ivanode. Her current PT/INR value is 2.7. I want know how long she need to take the above medicine.
Hi friend, you did not specify the type of valve replacement. It can be mechanical or Bioprosthetic. Her INR value is good, target is 2.5 to 3.5. Mitral valve surgery is a very serious issue as it is highly linked to thrombosis. Most of the times drugs(specially acitrom) are needed for life long with regular checking of PT/INR and the dose may vary time to time. I wish her a post surgery healthy life. Arrange some physiotherapy at home for the stroke related weakness. Strocit is now a days prescribed by may doctors(even specialists) for the ischaemic stroke. But it's role is controversial(many trials are claiming good results but classical text books do not recommend it everytime), I am not sure if it's going to help her but I don't think that it'll cause any harm(I have seen NO major side effect). So continue it with good hope. Good luck.
