How Long Should Progynova And Primolut N Be Taken?
Hi, I am 33 yrs old, I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and Hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, I never had periods since puberty, I was prescribed progynova 2 mg 1-21 days and Primolut N 5 mg 22-30 days, I get my periods now. I have recently married and worried that taking these tablets would not let me become pregnant, because I have read these medications also act like contraceptives to prevent pregnancy, please advise, can I continue to take these medications and become pregnant
Hi, Thanks for the query. if you take these tablets continuously that may lead to contraceptive effect. But if you take the oestrogen tablets progynova during the first half of the cycle like first 15 days and progesterone tabletsprimolut n during the second half of the cycle like 16th to 30th day that will mimic the natural hormonal effect and may not affect the fertility. So please consult your gynecologist once and adjust your tablet schedule according to this and later you can plan for pregnancy. Take care.
