How Long Should I Continue Diclofenac For Arthritis?

Hi. I have been on Diclophenac for over 23 years. My blood test have always been normal. I am 67, female relatively good health. A new PA I saw says I am to go off immediately. My regular Rheumatologist, I have been seeing for 20 years, has always said I can stay on it. I have gone off before and used Tylenol with no real reduction in joint pain. Why must I suffer ?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
I have studied your case and I thin taking Diclofenac for such long time is very dangerous. It can cause high blood pressure and kidney failure. I would recommend you following.
1. Get your blood urea an creatinine level to make sure that your kidney is working normally.
2. Avoid any more pain killer, take paracetamol or tramadol for it.
3. Make sure that your Rheumatoid level is normal, take regular DMARD.
4.I hope these steps will help you.
Let me know if there is any other follow up questions.
thanks
