How Long Should I Take Sustain, And Is USG Harmful To Baby?
my wife is pregnant since last 3 1/2 months, during 11week she had some bleeding problem. Doctor given pause injection and situation is in control. She is taking Sutain-500 regularly-1. How long should she take it? Doctor has not suggested any Tedback sort of Injection till date. She is having gas problem regularly. Taking medicine. Already 2USG tests conducted in 11th week and 12th week. Is it harmful for baby? Now totally at bed rest. Please suggest is all the above situation alright.
Hi, Thanks for the query. Susten is natural micronized progesterone. It helps in maintainance of pregnancy and in preventing miscarriage. The period the tablet to be taken depends on individual gestational history. Usually tablets can be stopped after first trimester. But sometimes it may need to be continued till the fetus achieves viability. As it is a natural micronized progesterone, there may not be any major side effects. Usually ultrasound waves will not produce radiation. So, generally undergoing ultrasound for limited number of times and for limited period of time doesn't affect the baby. Take care.
