How Long Should Long Distance Running Be Avoided After Having Bladder Sling Surgery With Swelling Of Glands?
I am a huge long distance runner and I am getting very restless after my bladder sling surgery. I have been speed walking every day and I have noticed some swelling of my glands. My question is, how long do I need to wait until I start running again? My doctor said to wait 6 weeks, but I feel like that is soooo long.
It is best for you to wait that long.
Slings work because they get scarred into place and the fibrosis prevents you from leaking. If the sling slips, it could scar in the wrong position, leading to worse results. Activity prior to the healing process could cause the sling to move out of place.
