How Long Will It Take To Cure The Elbow After An Injury?

Hi, my 8 yr old son had wires removed from his upper arm near the elbow last week after surgery due to a break. The wires and plaster were in for 5 weeks. He now can hardly move his elbow. It is locked at a right angle. How long will it take and should he have physio treatment?
