How Long Would It Take For Sucrose Lozenge Swallowed Whole To Dissolve?
I swallowed a sucrets lozenge (whole) accidentally. It has obviously cleared my air way, but I still feel it's presence in my chest area. I am breathing ok and talking ok. How long do you think it will take to disolve and should I swallow some bread or something to make it go down faster? I am afraid that it too might get stuck on top of the lozenge.
Hi, From the brief clinical history it seems like the chances of the lozenge being stuck in the food pipe (Oesophagus) is quite slim. It dissolves quickly and passes down. The sensation of something present in the food pipe generally lasts for a couple of hours. Please drink plenty of water and you should be just fine.
Hope this helps.
Regards, Dr. Prasad
