How Many Misoprostol Pills To Be Taken To Abort Pregnancy?
hi, My wife periods did happen for 10 days since her due date.So she had a home pregnancy checkup kit, and result came out to be positive. So she took unwanted kit.and after taking Misoprostol she had lot pain in her abdominal n periods started with few hours,but it lasted only for 24 hr. Is everything ok.she took only one dose of Misoprostol.Is it necessary to take all the 4 piles. Please suggest..

She has taken insufficient dose in improper way to terminate the pregnancy.
Tab. Mifepristone 200 mg is to be followed by Tab. Misoprostol 800 mcgm after 24-48 hours. Then usually the abortion is complete after 24 hours but not later than 7 days. This is a safe method for terminating pregnancy up to 9 weeks of gestation. However, the medicines have to be taken by Obstetrician's advice & prescription and under supervision.
Now if her abortion process has got interrupted, as per WHO guidelines, she may repeat the prescribed course again with Obstetrician's consultation. If this also fails, she will have to get the pregnancy terminated by surgical evacuation of the uterus by MVA syringe or any other appropriate method.
These medicines are known to cause developmental abnormalities in the baby and hence the decision of terminating the pregnancy should not be reverted back to continuation of pregnancy.

It is quite safe and OK to test for the pregnancy at home. However, MTP kit should never be taken without Obstetrician's advice.
Anyway, you have taken Misoprostol without consulting Obstetrician. Usually after the last Tablet of Misoprostol the products of conception are expelled out of the uterus with strong pains within 24 hours and the abortion is complete. Then, there may not be any bleeding after that. From your history, it seems that she has already aborted - mostly completely.
I would advise you to submit her for ultrasonography to confirm that the uterine cavity is empty and all the products of conception have been expelled out. If so, you do not have to worry about; however, if any part of the products is visualized in the uterine cavity, then you should report to the Obstetrician ASAP to avoid further complications like bleeding and/or infection. May be if it is incomplete abortion, it will have to be completed by remaining tablets of Misoprostol or surgical procedure like MVA aspiration or so.
