hi, gud morning. my Q. is how much time it takes to show up hiv virus in hiv blood antibody test. and is it recommended to have hiv test even at 6 month mark. tnks n waiting for ur valuable ans.

After exposure it would usually take 4 months as Window period. You have to get an antibody test immediately after the exposure and again after 4 months if negative, to confirm you do not have HIV. Be careful. Use Universal Barrier Precautions to avoid possible transmission of HIV.

yes it is important to get the test done at 6th month too since at times it take 6 months for antibodies to develop.The window period is 3-6 months.
