How Safe And Effective Is Taking Sinimet ?

Hi, My husband is on 2 and 1/2 tablets of 100/25 sininet every 2 to 3 hours until just before bedtime for approximately a month now . He is having trouble breathing and the meds do not work at all sometimes and at other times it takes at least a 1/2 to amd hour to work. We took him to emergency and after many tests found his heart was absolutly fine. He has also had a complete pulmonary test and still no answers. His feet have started to swell in the last week and we just don t know what to do??

Hello,

The effects of sinemet are usually quite good BUT there are limits. Without an exam I can only give general information, and in parkinson's there is permanent loss of the part of the brain controlling movement.

Increasing the activity of what little remains of that part of the brain is helped by giving a lot of the stuff that part of the brain puts out. So, the remainder puts out more signals. There are other drugs and implants that can do the same thing and might be helpful.
