How Safe And Effective Is Trimacinolone Cream For Yeast Infection?

My Dr. prescribed triamcinolone cream and nystatin cream for a yeast infection 2x daily for 5 days, but I think I may be pregnant. I won t know for sure since my period isn t due for 4 more days. I used the cream for the first time today. Is it okay to continue using it for the full 5 days? I didn t say anything about possibly being pregnant to my Dr.

Triamcinolone is a corticosteroid medicine which can cause significant side effects if absorbed into your system. Short term use would probably be safe, but it is unnecessary to cure a yeast infection. It would only be used to treat the inflammation and discomfort, which should clear up quickly anyway with the nystatin. So best not to use the triamcinolone if you think you are pregnant, but finish the full course of nystatin to get rid of the yeast. Hope this helps.
