How Safe Is Taking Lidocaine Shot For Perianal Abscess?
I was in the ER last week for a perianal abscess. The doctor gave me a lidocaine shot then proceeded to drain using a needle. I am currently on an antibiotic regimen (6 days of 10) and I noticed that in the immediate area of the original abscess (further from my anus toward by back) there is now an itchy lump and is also midly fluid filled. It may be the location of the lidocaine shot. Could this possibly be just trauma fluid or is this remanents of the abscess that needs to be re-drained?
thank you for putting up your query on HCM. as per your history, it may be irritant contact dermatitis due to pus discharge from abscess nearby or an abscess developing again in the neaby area. my treatment advise would be: 1. finish your course of antibiotics. 2. maintain hygiene. 3. you can take pain killers like tab aceclofenac bd and apply antibiotic cream like fusiderm or mupirocin . 4. visit hospital if it persists after finishing your course of antibiotics. thank you.
