How Safe Is Taking Miralax For Constipation?

My son has a red ring around his anus. What could cause this? It doesn't hurt--he has had peri-anal strep before and it looks similar. He has been constipated for the past few months and is on miralax now. He's eaten a bunch of strawberries lately....could it be an allergy?

Hello,

Miralax is a very good stool softener for children ages six months and up. It works by bringing more water into the colon, softening the stool and making it easier to pass. It is very safe and is not habit-forming.
Some advices that I can give to you are:
-Give liquids to your child
-Give probiotic foods or take probiotic supplements.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
 Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
