How Safe Is The Use Of A Trans-vaginal Mesh, Pelvic Mesh And Bladder Sling For Bladder Prolapse?
How safe is the use of a trans-vaginal mesh, Pelvic Mesh, and bladder sling, for bladder prolapse? Are all these just fancy names for the same type of procedure? If a hysterectomy is performed, how is the bladder attached & what method would be the safest? In '09, I had pneumonia.. (coughing to the point of aching ribs) misstep and fell off the stage at my school, rearranged and lifted furniture in my classroom that holiday as well. I believe coughing helped bring on the bladder prolapse. I am a healthy 71 year old. Thanks much. I
Hi thanks for your question. You are 71 year old healthy lady with bladder prolapsed what is called cystocele. With increasing age the pelvic muscle which support the bladder lose their strength and tone. An episode of cough can cause prolapse of bladder due to reasons I mentioned above. Bladder lies in front of uterus and during hysterectomy, surgeon can repair the cystocele and bladder is pulled up, but if the prolapse large it cannot be done during abdominal hysterectomy .Yes these are names for same procedure. These procedures are very much safe and suitable for you at this age, because due to loss of tone of pelvic muscle bladder can again come dawn if pulled up during abdominal hysterectomy. Hope this answers your question
