How Safe Is To Avoid Wearing Stockings Due To DVT In Left Leg?

I had DVT in left leg 2 years ago. After one year on blood thinners, the clot has dissolved upto 90%. Doctor advised me to wear stockings but I cannot wear them in this heat. I do not have any trouble as much since I am very active (I run and work out in the gym) Just want to understand if it is ok to stop wearing the stockings? I am 29yrs old now

Hello,

When you stand the blood pools in your legs as your veins are dilated and you may be having incompetent vein valves also. When there is stasis, there is risk of it clotting. So if your day to day activity involves standing for some time, you would be running a risk by not wearing the stockings. You may take them off when you are moving around. Your doctor would have warned you against the use of oral contraceptives and other use of hormones.
Are you on any anti coagulants or anti platelet drug now?
I sometimes give my patients Doxium ( Calcium dobesilate) to her improve their symptoms and reduce the leg swelling.
