Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m a 28 y.o and am taking packs of Belara pills back to back for 3 months now as my Dr adviced. I am taking Belara packs in a row to avoid a period bleeding because of my low iron and ferritin blood rates. I wanted to know if this is something doctors recommend and if I should continue to do so.
Welcome to HCM and thank you for posting your query. Taking Belara tablets continuously for treating iron deficiency is not what I would advice. Upsetting the normal physiological and cyclical hormonal changes that occur in you, increases your risk of developing complications later in life. Treatment of iron deficiency anemia is simple. You should eat a normal wholesome diet rich in iron and take iron supplements. If you have any malabsorption problems in which iron is not absorbed from food, you can be given iron by injection as a drip. Wish you good health. Take care Dr. Noble Zachariah
