How Safe Is Tonsillectomy While Having Heart Disease?
My 41 year old husband 9(who has chronic heart disease is in hospital with severe tonsillitis. Antibiotics are not helping. It is so swollen that he can barley talk and hasn t eaten for 3 days. As he has not responded to meds, he is scheduled for a tonsillectomy tomorrow morning and I want to know how risky this will be and why

it is really under high risk to get operated for tonsillectomy with chronic heart disease,when antiplatelets like ecosporin & clopidrogel have to be stopped.
control of bleeding postoperatively is an important concern.
laser ablation or use of debrider may be helpful
or tonsillectomy under local anaesthesia with an an expert ent surgeon will be vey helpful.
the risk should be assessed by your treating cardiologist also.
