How Safe Is Travelling During 6th Week Of Pregnancy?

Hi doctor, my wife is about 6wks pregnant now and we are supposed to be flying off next week. She has heavy bleeding nearly 2 wks ago and has stopped since. Pls advise what are the other possible risks during the travel apart from possibility of bleeding again.

Thanks.

Travel itself is not a risk for pregnancy loss or miscarriage, but depending on where you are traveling, you should have a plan for your wife to be able to get medical care where you are going, and if you will not have any access to a doctor where you go, you should consider alternate travel plans. For example, I do not recommend going on a cruise, or traveling to a remote island if there is no hospital. Flight attendants can safely work while pregnant so air travel itself will not cause any increased risk. I hope this was helpful and good luck with the pregnancy.
