How Safe Is Using Kogic Acid Cream For Pimples?

Hello Sir/Madam,
I have used Bezac and adapalene gel for pimples. Now I am free of pimples. I have stopped those medicines 3
months ago.

Now I would like to use kogic acid cream for some pimple marks on my face. But I have read on internet, kojic acid cream may lead to allergy. Pls advise how should i use it.

Thanks.

Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic

Kojic acid is a skin lightening agent and is useful for postinflammatory hyperpigmentation of acne. It inhibits melanin synthesis and therefore decreases hyperpigmentation.

It is well tolerated and usually does'nt cause any irritation or redness. However a few patients who are allergic to it and patients who have sensitive skin, may develop some irritation to it. However this is a very rare side effect with kojic acid and usually is not a problem in most patients.

However, I usually start my patients of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation on Azaleic acid gel/cream. It is effective for both acne as well as hyperpigmentation.

regards
