How Serious Is A Baby Having VSD Of 3.0 Mm Size?
Hi our new born son is 10 days old. Our doctor says that he has VSD of 3.0 mm size. Since we never had such incidence in our family so worried. When and how type of treatments we should get? Also doctor says there is a hope in the top half of the heart but that is not very serious.

Well, heart diseases are usually always of concern. Many VSD closes spontaneously by 3 years of age.The treatment is surgical and you should keep watch on recurrent respiratory infection that may occur in this.
The treatment is surgical and can be done once the baby is stable at young age also. Repeated echocardiography may be required.
