Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Should I Manage When Prescription Of Norco Is Not Renewed?
My daughter, 50 yo WF, has serious psychiatric problems and has been on Norco 5/325 qid for years for a chronic bladder problem. Her treating docs seem to be increasingly reluctant to refill her Norco. I assume because of the opioid epidemic. What s the next step?
It is very difficult to answer this question without knowing the nature of the bladder problems your daughter is experiencing. Generally, Norco 5/325 could be viewed as an untraditional treatment for most bladder problems. In the last decade many new breakthroughs in the treatment of bladder- and other urinary tract problems, and there are a lot of very effective types of medicine available currently.
I highly suggest that your daughter contacts her GP - alternatively a urologist, to get a proper assessment of her problems and more targeted treatment. This also to assure that her bladder problems get well treated, so that they do not weigh too much on her considering her other psychiatric problems.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Maria Riechel-Sarup, General & Family Physician
