How Should Diarrhea With Mucus, Exhaustion And Lack Of Appetite Be Treated?

I have had diarrhea for almost a week now. It s is mucusy and stringy. No temperature. My creatinine had gone up to 2.2 just a couple of days after it started and they believe it was from the diarrhea. They did a culture for C.Diff this morning but no results yet. Extremely exhausted, sleep a lot, and not much of an appetite. I am drinking alot but it s hard to keep fluids in me when I m in the bathroom - 8 times a day. Any ideas?

Hello,Welcome to the HCM
Brief..it is probably E.Coli or shiga toxin producing infection
Detailed answer...From your history it seems that you have got E.coli infection,as it can effect kidney function (haemolytic uraemic syndrome). My opinion would be get urine test done to rule out haematuria and discuss with your physician.
Since Antibiotics do not improve the illness, therefore apart from supportive care such as close attention to hydration and nutrition ,there is no specific therapy.
Hopefully my answer is helpfull.
