Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Should Heart Palpitations And Skipped Heart Beats Be Diagnosed And Treated?
Shortly after eating or drinking something I start having my heart start skipping beats and beating harder than normal. This normally happens when I am sitting or laying down and resting. Sometimes it get bad enough that I get a little short of breath and the lower back of my head starts with a head ache. This normally lasts about 3 to 5 minutes but sometimes can go on for several hours. Scary!
Your symptoms are suggestive of post-prandial hypotension. I recommend performing a head up tilt test and checking complete blood count for anemia. In the meantime, I recommend avoiding large and hypercaloric meals and trying to eat more frequently in small portions.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
