How Should Leg Osteophytic Changes Causing Pain, Numbness And Swelling Be Treated?
good morning sir,i m Dr.Rahi,clinical pharmacologist in Jinnah hospital Karachi Pakistan.My father had an accident four months back.for two months he hsd no pain and swellig in his lt.leg.Now he complains of severe pain ,numbness and swelling in his left leg upto foot.On x-ray of sacro lumbar spine there is only osteophytic changes with no fractures or dislocations.plz help me in this case.Thanks....
Hi Welcome to healhcaremagic After going through your query I concluded that your father have swelling , numbness and pain. I think you should get his angiography of left lower limb vessels should be done. It may be due to venous thrombosis.Till then you can keep his limb elevated on pillow. Active toe movements will be helpful in reducing swelling. Mecobalamin will be helpful in reducing numbness. Analgesic such as ibuprofen can be taken for pain relief. You can also get his MRI lumbar spine done to see if there is any nerve compression. You can discuss with your Doctor about it. Hope your query get answered.
