Hello. Thank you for writing to us
The right time to screen varies for different STD's.
Moreover, if you develop any symptoms & signs like urethral discharge, burning micturation, erosions, ulcers, growths or warts etc you must visit a venereologist.
However, STD's may not present with obvious signs Or symptoms and because most STD's are not immediately detectable by a lab test therefore is is important to screen at appropriate intervals and by serial tests, as required.
Screening for
gonorrhea and chlamydia should be earliest at 2 weeks with a swab test.
HSV ELISA for type 1 & 2 is usually performed at 2-4 weeks after a risky sexual contact.
Syphilis and
HIV can be screen tested at earliest at 4 weeks and is this initial screening test turns out to be negative these need to be repeated at 12 weeks for a definitive result.
I suggest that you visit a sexual health clinic in your region for more details about safe sexual practices and tests that need to be done in your case.
Regards
Always practice safe sex with a condom!!
