Hallow Sir,
In fact this question is quite older chronologically; however, since it is present in the list of questions, I am answering your query.
To terminate the
pregnancy of your wife, you have following options:
A. Medical termination up to 9 weeks of gestation:
1. Tab. Mifepristone followed after 24-48 hours by Tab.
Misoprostol. or
2. Misoprostol alone regime: Tab. Misoprostol every 3-12hours up to 3 doses.
These medicines should be taken only with Gynaecologist's advise regarding the doses and the routes of administration of the medicines. Usually, these medicines abort the pregnancy within 24 hours, but not later than 3 days. The completeness of
abortion may be confirmed by
ultrasonography.
These medicines cause the developmental defects in the baby. Hence, in case of failure of this medicine, the pregnancy should be terminated by surgical method.
B Surgical Methods:
1. MVA aspiration of the
uterine cavity by syringe and cannula.
2. Suction evacuation of uterine cavity
3. Dilatation and evacuation: This method is almost obsolete from modern Obstetrics.
These methods are for termination under 12 weeks of gestation.
I feel, for you wife, Tab. Mifepristone + Tab. Misoprostol should be ideal and most suitable.
